L'Oréal Recognized as Most Sustainable Company in Newsweek's 2017 Global 500 Green Rankings

NEW YORK, Jan. 8, 2018 -- L'Oréal announced today that it has been recognized for its worldwide leadership in sustainability, ranking as the top performing global company and best performing personal products company on Newsweek's 2017 Global 500 Green Rankings with a combined Newsweek Green Score of 89.90 percent.

Through its global sustainability program, Sharing Beauty With All, L'Oréal is committed to reducing its environmental footprint, strengthening its positive social impacts and transforming how it operates, innovates, designs and manufactures its products. In 2017, for the second year in a row, L'Oréal was one of only two companies in the world to score an "A" for all three of CDP's programs for its efforts in climate protection, sustainable water management and the fight against deforestation. The CDP is an independent international organization which evaluates the environmental performance of companies. 

Newsweek's Green Rankings is an annual assessment of the sustainability performance of the largest publicly-traded companies in the U.S. and the world by revenue. The ranking is based on eight sustainability and environmental indicators including energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, carbon and water productivity as well as the presence of executive, board and third-party oversight mechanisms.
