Mrs. Liliane Bettencourt

The passing of Mrs Liliane Bettencourt is a moment of great emotion and immense sadness for all of us at L’Oréal.

Liliane Bettencourt was truly a great lady and one whom we will never forget.

Those who knew her will keep the memory of a woman of exception.

Mrs Liliane Bettencourt always had the taste for entrepreneurship, a natural curiosity, and a boldness for new ideas.

For decades, she has conveyed the spirit of the founder of L’Oréal, the spirit of her father, Eugène Schueller. As the quest for excellence and the highest standards, and the deepest respect for the men and women of the House.

With her advice and kind attentiveness, she always encouraged us to dare, to take risks, to go ever further. To fully realize our ambition to turn L'Oréal into a global champion.

She was with us on every step of this wonderful adventure.

For all of this, we are immensely grateful.

Since her father's death in 1957, Mrs Liliane Bettencourt has repeatedly shown her unwavering commitment and support to L’Oréal.

She ensured the stability of the shareholders, which gave L'Oréal its continuity, its solidity and allowed its tremendous development; it is a rare asset, even irreplaceable, for a company like ours that envisions its strategy in the long-term.

At every moment, she showed her deep attachment to L'Oréal, and has always ensured its longevity.

On behalf of L'Oréal's employees, I would like to express to Mrs Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, Mr Jean-Pierre Meyers, and their two sons Jean-Victor and Nicolas, our most sincere condolences and affectionate thoughts in these sad moments.

Jean-Paul Agon
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of L'Oréal
